Dulocx
is a leading supplier of aggregates (sand, gravel, and crushed rock)
cement, and ready-mix concrete. In 2006, Dulocx International acquired
Beverly Ready Concrete (BRC), UK’s very first ready-mix concrete plant.
Dulocx also produces asphalt, concrete blocks, and mortar, having a
significant share in each market. The global meltdown has
severely affected their growth in terms of lower demand for roads and
buildings. Keeping this in view, the Board decided to expand their
operations to India and China.
The Dulocx project team sent to India has a stiff target of two years
to set-up the manufacturing facility near Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The
team has acquired the land for manufacturing unit and have decided to
float tenders for the construction of the manufacturing facility, along
with the final blueprint and specifications of all the construction
related materials.
The project team is to finalize Electrical Conduits for lighting and
general load as well as for manufacturing equipment loads. They decided
to go for the Bus-duct in place of Cables to keep power factor and
temperature rise in check, for the equipment load. Metal Conduit, PVC
Conduit, and HDPE Conduit were selected for the Lighting and General
Load cabling purpose. Harsh Kumar, a young Project Manager (Electrical)
instructed his deputy Sudesh to prepare a comparative study for all the
three options, which is given below:
Sudesh also prepared a cost analysis for Harsh to help him take the right decision:
Cost Comparison for 25mm Electrical Conduit
Harsh and Sudesh sat together for finalizing the Electrical Conduits
but they were still finding it difficult to choose one. PVC conduit is
been widely used in this segment and the presence of metal conduit is
limited only to the Government projects and in large commercial
projects. They require around 2000 km of electrical conduits for this
project. Sudesh also pointed out that manufacturers of the HDPE
Conduits directly market the Conduits, which can further help ensure
the quality of products.
